FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 30, 2025
Baltimore, Maryland – At the October meeting of the Maryland State Board of Elections (SBE) (watch here, timestamp 1:22:00), Director Jared DeMarinis shockingly claimed that the “dilution of votes does not disenfranchise a voter.” This dismissive stance ignores the reality that fraudulent ballots cancel out lawful votes and directly disenfranchise Maryland citizens.
Secure the Vote Maryland’s latest submission to the SBE confirms this ongoing problem: 10 deceased registrations cast 29 votes, 24 duplicate registrations cast 42 votes, and yet the Office of the Special Prosecutor removed only 4 out of 38 fraudulent registrations flagged in July 2025. Out of more than 1,800 deceased and duplicate records reported, fewer than 10% have been removed.
Maryland’s recent State Board of Elections meetings reveal a troubling pattern of a system failing to protect lawful voters from disenfranchisement. Recently an illegal living in Iowa was found registered to vote in Maryland. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice has an open inquiry with the SBE and the Republican National Committee and Maryland GOP have filed a lawsuit over bloated Maryland voter rolls.
“The issue is not just numbers—it is the systemic failure that allows illegal registrations and fraudulent votes to persist. Maryland voters deserve a system where every legal vote counts—and only legal votes count,” stated Kate Sullivan Team Leader for Secure the Vote Maryland.
TAKE ACTION: We urge all concerned Marylanders to watch the full discussion, review our submitted report, and demand accountability from both the State Board of Elections and the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
